What I miss? Everyone is leaving

For one reason or another, I haven't had access to my daily RSS digest, so during a really dull episode of Eastenders I had a flip through what I have been missing.  Mass walkouts it would appear!  Three well known bloggers decide to call it a day and move on.

  • Sam Pullara
Another long term BEA member, decides to hand in his membership card and move on.  Sam has landed an excellent job at the venture capital firm Accel Partners, which is code for mucho-wonga salary.  Good luck to you Sam.

  • Daniel Farinha
The writer of java.lang.nullblogpointer has had a disagreement with management and decided to call it a day and move on. Daniel is based over here in the UK so I hope he can get himself sorted out in a new role fairly quickly.

  • Russell Beattie
And finally Russell, has thrown the toys out of the pram and moved on.  He writes a rather teasing blog hinting that he dropped the ball on the project which was the cause for the friction which ulitmately lead to his resignation.

Aside from Sam, leaving the comfort of a corporate salary is a daunting and brave thing.  Russell hopes to run his own show and I wish him all the best with that, being someone that has done it for nearly 8 years now, it's not an easy thing to do, filled with constant challenges and hurdles (and thats just the government!).  It is a wonderful feeling being the captain, but it is also one of the most lonely jobs you could possibly think of; gets 10 times worse when you hire people.  Beware!

The grass is always greener and sometimes when in the midst of an argument the easiest route (or ace-up-your-sleeve) is to walk out.  I have seen it many times only to have them regret it a few weeks later when the bills start coming in.  Leaving a company is something that shouldn't be done lightly and only after careful planning.  I hope Daniel and Russell get themselves sorted out with their next source of income very soon.

Sam, Daniel and Russell let me wish you all the best in the next chapter of your lives.
